The future of engineering was alive and well at Queen’s University’s Duncan McArthur Hall last week.
Callidus Engineering was proud to support the Frontenac, Lennox & Addington Regional Science Fair and help celebrate the next generation of big thinkers. Our own Luke Reist joined the platform party to hand out awards to students whose work showed not just technical skill, but real imagination.
From creative takes on climate action to data-driven design, the projects filling that gym were thoughtful, bold, and full of curiosity. Congratulations to all the winners. Thank you to the FLASF organizers and volunteers for bringing this incredible community event to life. 👏🧪💡

A great meal starts long before it reaches the plate. Behind every busy campus dining hall is the infrastructure that makes it all possible, and that’s where Callidus Engineering comes in.
Building on our relationship with Wilfrid Laurier University, we recently worked with Bestco Construction to upgrade the Dining Hall Dish Room in Waterloo. Our role? Making sure the space wasn’t just ready for new equipment, but that it actually worked for the people using it every day.
✅ Plumbing and ventilation adjustments so heat, steam, and water flow exactly where they should—no surprises, no inefficiencies.![]()
✅ Electrical system upgrades to meet the power requirements for high-demand equipment in a fast-paced kitchen.![]()
✅ Design coordination with kitchen staff to ensure the layout supports real-world workflows, not just theoretical plans.
The result is a dish room that runs as efficiently as the kitchen it serves. Students, faculty, and staff may never think about what’s behind the scenes, but they count on it working every day.
What’s one behind-the-scenes upgrade that made your work or school life easier? Drop it in the comments! ⬇️
