Earlier this month, we marked International Women’s Day. It was a moment to reflect on how far the engineering profession has come and the work that continues to shape its future. Today, women make up more than 30% of the team at Callidus Engineering. That progress matters. For generations, women were excluded from engineering education, training, and professional opportunities, and the industry we work in today was shaped by the effort to change that reality.

Across Canada, that progress is still taking shape. Women represent about 15% of licensed engineers nationally, according to Engineers Canada, and participation continues to grow as more women enter engineering programs and the profession. The AEC sector benefits from every step forward as new perspectives strengthen the way buildings and infrastructure are designed, built, and maintained.

There is clear momentum, but there is still work to do. Creating opportunities, supporting careers, and removing barriers remain part of building a stronger profession. Every step forward helps ensure the next generation of engineers sees this field as a place where they belong.
