There was a lot to celebrate on Queen Mary Road in Kingston last month! A former long-term care home has found a new purpose, bringing transitional housing, health care and community support together under one roof. We were glad to be part of the team that helped make it happen.

The newly opened facility includes 33 transitional housing units for older adults who have experienced homelessness, alongside the Midtown Kingston Health Home, providing access to primary care for residents and the wider community. It’s a meaningful new use for an existing building, offering stability, support and a path forward for people who need it.

Our team provided mechanical and electrical engineering for the renovation, working through the challenges of adapting an older building to meet the different needs and safety requirements of residential and clinical spaces.

Our own Derek Reid joined the grand opening celebrations alongside project partners and local service providers. It was a wonderful opportunity to see the building begin its next chapter and celebrate what it will mean for people across Kingston.
